¡Mis primeros correfocs del año! / My first correfocs of the year!

Ya lo he dicho antes, los correfocs son mi tradición catalana favorita y este fin de semana pude hacer mis primeras fotos de fuego y diablos del 2013. Fueron los realizados en las Fiestas de Santa Eulàlia (co-patrona de Barcelona), comenzando en la Plaça Nova  y terminando justo frente a la Catedral. A mí particularmente los correfocs en el Barrio Gótico me gustan mucho… como las calles son estrechas el efecto del fuego chocando con las paredes es impresionante y sonido de los petardos es más fuerte. Pero también son más difíciles de fotografiar… no hay mucho espacio para escapar de las chispas, por ser en el centro hay muchos turistas y otros fotógrafos así que si te quedas atrás probablemente no tendrás chance de volver a alcanzarlos y además el humo se concentra mucho más. Una manera segura de verlos bien, es pillarlos cuando comienzan o cuando terminan, ya que al ser en espacios abiertos es más fácil moverse y participar.

I’ve said it before, correfocs are my favorite Catalonian tradition y this weekend I could make my first photos of devils and fire of 2013. It was at the Santa Eulàlia (co-patron saint of Barcelona), starting in Plaza Nova and ending in front of the Cathedral. I really like when correfocs are held in the Gothic Quarter… the effect of the fire bouncing in the walls of the narrow streets is amazing and the sound of the firecrackers is stronger. But it’s also more difficult to take photos… there’s no space to scape from the sparks, and because it’s the center there are lots of tourists and other photographers so if you stay behind you won’t have much opportunities of reaching them and also the smokes concentrate way more. A safe way of watching them is catching them when they start or end, because this happens in open spaces and it’s easier to move and participate.
