Countdown to La Mercè

La Mercè es la fiesta más grande e importante de Barcelona,  se hace en honor a la Virgen Patrona de la ciudad y marca el fin del verano. Del 20 al 24 de septiembre las calles de la capital catalana se llenarán de correfocs, castellers, sardanes, falcons, gegants, y trabucaires. También hay conciertos gratuitos en muchas plazas, jornadas de puertas abiertas en lugares emblemáticos como La Sagrada Familia o el Palau Güell, proyecciones “mapping” sobre la fachada del Ayuntamiento, espectáculos artísticos en el Parc de la Ciutadella y Montjuïc,  y shows de fuegos artificiales en La Barceloneta… y para cerrar las fiestas, se realiza el famoso Piromusical en Plaça Espanya. Mientras contamos los días para La Mercè 2013, ¡acá dejo algunas fotos que hice el año pasado!

La Mercè is the biggest and most important celebration in Barcelona, made to honor the Patron Saint of the city and also marking the end of the summer. From September 20th until the 24th, the streets of Catalonia’s capital will be full of correfocs, castellers, sardanes, falcons, gegants and trabucaires. There will be also free concerts in many plazas and also free entrance journeys to landmarks like La Sagrada Familia and the Palau Güell, mappings over the City Hall facade, art performances at Parc de la Ciutadella and Montjuïc and fireworks shows in La Barceloneta… and to close the celebrations, the famous Pyromusical in Plaça Espanya. While we count the days to La Mercè 2013, here are some photos that I took last year!
